Learning Commons

Welcome to the Learning Commons

The role of the Learning Commons is to support the educational and informational needs of the students and staff at SouthPointe School. We aim to create a positive environment with age, interest, and level-appropriate reading materials for all of our students. Our goal is to provide a caring and inviting space where students and staff can find books they want to read or materials they can use for homework or research projects. We encourage everyone to use this space for collaboration, learning, and social connections.

Information about the Learning Commons

When is the Learning Commons open?

We are open daily from 8:00-3:00.

How many books can a student check out?

Kindergarten: 2 books

Grades 1-6: 3 books

Junior High: 5 books

The loan period for materials checked out of the learning commons is two weeks. Any students who have overdue items will not be able to check any new materials out. Any materials that are lost or damaged are the responsibility of the students. Once a book is overdue students will receive two reminders to return or renew their items. If an overdue item is not returned or renewed within an appropriate period of time, it is considered lost and the replacement cost will be added to the student's fees.

Can materials be renewed?

Yes- as long as the item has not been requested by another student.

Can items be placed on hold?

Yes, please submit a hold slip to learning commons staff and they will let you know when the requested item is available.
