About

Welcome to SouthPointe School

Introduction

On behalf of the entire staff at SouthPointe, I would like to welcome your family to our school.

Our staff works hard to give students a strong academic foundation and are committed to ensuring students have a positive and safe learning environment rich in arts, athletics, and character education. We share information regularly through newsletters, phone calls, School Messenger system, emails, staff websites, and Twitter.

Because education is a partnership, children learn best when parents support the work of the school. Support can come in many ways such as: communicating regularly with the classroom teacher, checking your child’s agenda, attending school functions; connecting with staff in parent/teacher interviews; talking to your children about their day at school; monitoring homework responsibilities; and ensuring that your children arrive at school ready to learn.

We are very proud of the accomplishments of SouthPointe and are looking forward to working with you this year!

Motto

Every Day, Every Student, A Success.

Mission

SouthPointe School, in collaboration with our community, will provide a safe, supportive learning environment in which every student will develop the skills and knowledge to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society.

Philosophy

SouthPointe school operates on the philosophy that all students have a right to learn. It is therefore our aim to establish and maintain a positive school climate in which: each student feels safe, happy, and important without disruptive behavior impinging upon the rights of others; appropriate behavior is consistently encouraged and complemented, thus increasing student self-esteem and rewarding self-control; frequent communication exists between the staff and parents to encourage and provide the opportunity for active and constructive parental involvement in the education of their child.

Beliefs

All students at SouthPointe are in an environment where they are valued, cared for, respected and treated as individuals with individual needs, strengths, affinities and areas of growth.

Facts and Figures

SouthPointe is a K-9 school that serves approximately 680 students. Our school has a staff of 52, 32 teachers and 20 support staff.
